NASMM 2026 NASMM Ethics Compliance Commission Application

The purpose of the NASMM Ethics Compliance Commission (NECC) is to guide the ongoing review and enhancement of NASMM's Code of Ethics. Additionally, NECC members hold the responsibility of reviewing allegations of unethical Senior Move Management practices by current NASMM members from clients and/or members of NASMM.
The NECC is currently accepting applications for three members to join this important commission.
Interested members should complete the application by FRIDAY, May 8 . The applications will be reviewed and invited to interview with the NECC. Final candidates will be submitted to the NASMM Board of Directors and accepted applicants will begin a minimun three-year term beginning in July, 2026.
In order to be eligible to serve on the NASMM Ethics Compliance Commission applicants must:
- Be an owner or senior manager of a NASMM member company and a member in good standing for five (5) years;
- Possess significant knowledge of and experience in Senior Move Management by holding or be in the process of earning the NASMM A+ Accreditation or the Senior Move Manager~Certified (SMM~C) Designation;
- Possess a working understanding of the NASMM Code of Ethics and be committed to advancing the principles of transparency, honesty, accuracy, and respect that form the basis of the Code of Ethics;
- Enjoy an excellent reputation in the Senior Move Management industry;
- Not have been formally found to be involved in any activity or conduct that violated the NASMM Code of Ethics or otherwise failed to adhere to the principles of transparency, honesty, accuracy, and respect that form the basis of the Code of Ethics;
- Not be a current member of the NASMM Board of Directors;
- Understand and agree to comply with the understanding that if selected to serve on the NECC, the member cannot promote the fact that she/he is affiliated with or a member of the NECC in any commercial activities involving his/her personal business affairs. In other words, and simply put, the prospective applicant understands and warrants that his/her membership on the NECC cannot be leveraged or promoted as a public relations credential in any of her/his business matters; inasmuch as serving on the NECC is designed to promote the interests of the industry, not the interests of any particular firm, employer, or enterprise;
- Annually attend the NASMM Annual Conference
- Agree to serve a minimum three-year term. Meetings and other activities average 20 hours per year.
- ALL NECC MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE NASMM ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Conflict of Interest In order to avoid potential conflicts of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest, members of the NECC will not participate in any investigation that involves his or her employer, a direct competitor, or a client. A NECC member should recuse him/herself in all instances in which he/she believes there may be an actual or perceived conflict of interest. If the NECC Chair perceives a conflict of interest where the member has not recused him/herself, the Chair may direct any member to do so. Confidentiality NECC members agree to keep all discussions regarding or relating to investigations and disciplinary actions strictly confidential. Investigations may not be discussed outside of the panel's formal meetings. Any breach of confidentiality by a member will result in his/her dismissal from the NECC.
NECC Participation Requirements
- The NECC normally meets by phone or Zoom at 6 PM ET.
- Prospective NECC members should be available at one of these times.
- Membership in the NECC usually requires 2 hours per month, between calls, emails and shared writing responsibilities.
- Prospective members must willing to make this time commitment.If, after one quarter, we find that a member is unable to meet these requirements, they may be asked to leave the NECC.
- NECC Members are required to attend the NASMM Annual Conference
